Football Betting Terminology
Use this glossary to understand the market labels shown on Correct-Score.net before interpreting a prediction or bookmaker price.
Key football betting terms
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Correct Score | A selection on the exact final score for the relevant market period. A 2-1 prediction only wins if the match finishes exactly 2-1. |
| 1X2 / Match Result | 1 means home win, X means draw and 2 means away win. |
| BTTS | Both Teams To Score. “Yes” requires each team to score at least once; “No” wins when one or both teams fail to score. |
| Over/Under 2.5 | A total-goals market. Over 2.5 requires at least three goals; Under 2.5 requires zero, one or two. |
| FT Goals | The total number of goals scored by both teams in the full-time score. |
| Winning Margin | How many goals separate the teams at full time, or draw when the scores are level. |
| Decimal Odds | The total return per unit staked, including the original stake. Odds 2.50 mean a £10 winning stake returns £25 in total. |
| Implied Probability | A simple estimate of the probability represented by decimal odds: 100 divided by the decimal price. |
| ACCA / Accumulator | One bet combining multiple selections. Every leg normally needs to win for the accumulator to win. |
| Stake | The amount of money placed on a bet. |
| Return | The total amount paid back on a winning bet, usually including the original stake. |
| Void | A selection cancelled under the applicable market rules; treatment of the stake depends on the bookmaker and bet type. |
Why terminology matters
Knowing exactly what a market means helps avoid avoidable mistakes. A correct-score forecast, match-result pick and BTTS selection are different bets even when they are derived from the same predicted score.
